1. Prototyping

Get it out the door ASAP - a common request, and one we empathize with. It's all about execution, and we understand the importance of a seamless user experience. The novel idea that no one has done before is very rare nowadays, and execution is where the battle is won. Our UI design process goes opposite to the "normal" process: we only "design" the look and feel when product development is nearing completion. This accomplishes two things: it affords you a deeper understanding of the app (you can get actual users to click through the prototype and get feedback at an early stage), and it can easily integrate a broad range of insight (feature ideas are instantly coded in, experimentation is cheap). Another major advantage of this process: less design revisions.

Our development stages

  1. Initial design: getting the "flow" right
    We start with basic hand-designed sketches to get the app's flow right, before we open up any coding IDE.
  2. Style-less prototyping
    This is a in-depth HTML prototype of the app that accurately reflects the structure, content, and features of your app. Behaviors are implemented using jQuery, even AJAX responses are stubbed out. Because the user can explore the "complete" app's features, this negates the need to come up with a site map to explain its functionalities.
  3. Integration into a working Rails app
    We start building out the app by replacing all dummy text in the prototype with data from the database.
  4. Look & feel: skinning with HAML/SASS
    Finally, we dress up the app with background graphics and color, and add typography styles.

2. Marketing section content development
